We are saddened to hear that Relate’s central support organisation has entered administration. This news is reflective of the pressures faced by the voluntary sector, which has undergone significant challenges and can be greatly impacted by funding uncertainty. We hope that a solution will be found that allows this important work to continue.

We understand that Relate will continue to offer services through its 23 local independent branches. But relationship support is still going to be in high demand, increasing the pressure on other providers of relationship counselling. It is crucial that the demand for support is met – how we relate to others affects every aspect of our lives. Ensuring accessible support is available to help people develop and maintain healthy relationships is fundamental to building a stable and secure society.

OnePlusOne tackles this by offering early intervention relationship support. We have spent more than 50 years focusing on what works to nurture relationships and help people build good relational capability skills. In recent years we have been working with local authorities to increase access to early intervention support, including the development of digital resources which enable people to access the help they need, before things reach crisis point. Evidence shows that using early intervention resources such as ours can reduce the need for further counselling support, and increase its effectiveness where it is used.

We have created a free app for separating parents called Separating better, which is available to downloaded from app stores, and have further information to support all kinds of relationship issues on our websites ClickRelationships.org, and SeeItDifferently.org.

These evidence-based resources are free for everyone to use. We also offer digital courses to support parents, and we have trained thousands of practitioners from councils across the country to help family relationships. These online courses are available free to parents in many areas. For further information, please contact us at info@oneplusone.org.uk.
