Having constructive, supportive relationships has never been as important as it is right now. As a charity focused on relationships, OnePlusOne understands that the coronavirus pandemic is having drastic effects on the way people are living their lives.
Across the country, we are hearing heart-warming stories of communities pulling together to support those around them who are most vulnerable. It shows the strength we are all able to find when faced with difficult challenges.
Of course, it’s essential that we all follow the government guidance, but we know that the effects of this current way of life can be far-reaching. The impact of social distancing and the added pressures on families unable to participate in their usual daily activities, can create strain in relationships – whether they are adjusting to working from home, out there working in the thick of it, or unable to work at all. For some, worrying about an uncertain future will be an added cause of strain. There have already been many predictions about the escalation of arguments at home.
We all need each other. Here at OnePlusOne, we have relationship matters at the heart of everything we do, and we will continue to provide this service as best as we can throughout this crisis and beyond.
Like many of you, we are working remotely and will continue to provide evidence-based material to help support relationships, whatever they may be going through. Using our various digital platforms, we will be sharing our advice and offering ways in which people can look after their own relationships. These will range from tips for working effectively from home, to learning how to argue better because – with adults and children stuck at home together – that is going to be happening in many households over the weeks ahead.
We hope that many people will find these resources helpful. From videos, to expert advice and a supportive community forum, we are proud to be able to offer accessible, digital support that everyone can use from home.
Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing more advice to support people through these challenging times, so keep an eye on our various channels:
