Verity has over 20 years' experience working in the charity sector within health and social care, with a background in service delivery, income generation, and strategy. She has worked with large grants and contracts from both philanthropic funding and government grants, and is passionate about early intervention and prevention. When not thinking about strategy she is often seen running around West Sussex or trying to keep up with her Cavapoos.
Chantal holds a master’s degree in economics and languages. She has worked for the private, public, and voluntary sectors. She strongly believes an organisation's greatest asset is its staff. At OnePlusOne, she looks after human resources and is also the charity’s company secretary. She joined OnePlusOne in 2016. Outside work, she has many interests including art and culture, and anything related to nature.
Shannon is a research psychologist who joined OnePlusOne in 2019 after completing her PhD on attachment and forgiveness, and postdoc on emotional readiness. Shannon is passionate about applied research and how we use evidence to help people have fulfilling, meaningful relationships. When not trying to change the world one relationship at a time she can be found wrangling her rescue pup, listening to music, or hanging with friends and family.
Jimi specialises in translating evidence-based material into accessible resources that real people can use to make positive changes in their lives. He has an MA in creative writing and has published short fiction on both side of the Atlantic. When not writing, he can be found walking along the English coastline, playing face-melting guitar solos, or negotiating with cats. He joined the OnePlusOne team in 2014.
Jen is a chartered accountant. Having accrued over 25 years' experience in finance including 18 in the charity arena, she holds fellowship status with the ICAEW. Jen is responsible for all financial reporting and has been guiding OnePlusOne's financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting since 2022. When not polishing spreadsheets, she is a keen gig rower, representing St Ives Pilot Gig Club in Cornwall, where she is also Treasurer and Trustee.
Tabitha has a background in strategic communications and media relations. She is responsible for helping us to raise the profile of the work we do, telling the stories of how it helps others, and building effective relationships with partners who share our passion for supporting relationships. When she's not working, Tabitha volunteers at a local equine therapy centre and swimming club, supporting young people to reach their full potential.
Sara manages all digital and face-to-face projects, empowering the team to work productively in alignment with our mission and achieve our objectives. Sara brings a wealth of technical knowledge and experience, further strengthening our position in the digital space. In her spare time, Sara enjoys socialising, walking her crazy cocker spaniel and making memories with her son.
Johnny joined the team in 2021 and is a graphic designer with over 20 years’ experience of working for charities and third sector organisations. He designs OnePlusOne's reports, training materials, marketing assets and a myriad of other resources and ensures that everything is on-brand, well designed, accessible and user-friendly. Johnny lives in rural Norfolk where he is constanty bullied by Manon, his cat.
Claire has been focussed on customer care for over 25 years, she worked within customer relations in the private sector for over 20 years before choosing to move to the third sector. Her primary goal is to ensure the best possible communication, service delivery and outcomes within business relationships. She believes mutual goals and understanding are key to the success of any partnership.
Steph develops and delivers OnePlusOne's training provision and manages the training team to ensure our high-quality standards are maintained. She comes from a learning and development background, where she specialised in dispute resolution training and coaching for staff. She has also worked in careers guidance and child welfare for local authorities. Steph believes the best training experiences are user-centred, accessible, informative, evidence-based, engaging, interactive, relatable, developmental, thought-provoking, and enjoyable.
Sereena helps the research team undergo psychological research behind our exciting projects at OnePlusOne. She first joined us in 2022 and is now completing a placement year as part of her Business Management and Psychology (BA) studies at Sheffield Hallam University. When she’s not working on a literature review, you can find her painting, singing karaoke in her room, or playing cards in the pub with her friends.
Ben is an experienced web developer and editor, responsible for ensuring users of OnePlusOne’s interventions and websites enjoy a high quality digital journey. With a BSc in Forensic Science and Psychology, and a professional qualification in UX, Ben’s technical expertise, attention to detail and analytical skills help to ensure the smooth running of all our digital services.
Alex helps with OnePlusOne’s reporting and evaluation work, carries out background research and collects evidence to inform our project work. One of the things she loves most about her job is that she gets to use her psychology degree in an applied setting and play a part in helping people improve their relationships. Alex loves listening to podcasts, taking long walks and spending time with her favourite people/dogs.
Alexandra works with the Content and Comms team to write and edit content for OnePlusOne's relationship resources and interventions. She has several years experience in creating digital and online content for charitable organisations after graduating with a BA Honours in Professional Writing from York University, Canada. Outside of work, Alexandra enjoys reading, baking, and exploring Northern Ireland with her husband and their dog.
Gemma has a passion for helping people and brings over 15 years of customer support experience to the team. She is the first point of contact for training enquiries and is responsible for the administration of OnePlusOne’s training programmes. Gemma ensures the smooth running of this area of our work, providing a stress-free experience for people using OnePlusOne’s services.
Charmari works collaboratively to lead the development of programmes, practice and training for OnePlusOne. She has a background in the corporate, charitable, and voluntary sectors. She has worked directly with families, parents and children in various community and international contexts. Charmari also works as a counsellor and psychotherapist. Outside work, Charmari loves nature, going for walks, having a hot chocolate with friends and spending time with her family.
Matt is a seasoned digital professional with 11 years of experience, including five years in contracting. His expertise spans UX design, operations, and data protection. His experience includes work for global corporations and non-profits alike. At OnePlusOne, he applies his diverse skills across multiple areas, from UX projects to website maintenance and operational support. Matt's adaptability and problem-solving skills ensure smooth functionality across digital platforms.
Caroline is an experienced trainer and qualified counsellor, supporting individuals, couples and families. She is an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor and a group facilitator for women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse. She is also a safety worker for the partners or ex-partners of men on behaviour change programmes.
Helen is a psychology student at the University of Sheffield who has an interest in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. She previously joined the OnePlusOne team for a work experience placement and has now joined us as an associate to research and write articles for our relationship platform, Click.
Emma came to OnePlusOne with 20 years’ experience of business management. She is an experienced bookkeeper with a keen eye for detail and a highly adaptable nature. When she can bear to tear herself away from spreadsheets, she can be found pottering in the garden, dreaming of her next foreign adventure.
Natalia is one of our Associate trainers delivering RPC to Local Authorities. Natalia is a domestic abuse specialist with expertise in family intervention and trauma-informed approaches. She has a MA in gender-based violence and has supported survivors of trauma on their pathway to recovery for over 8 years. Natalia also leads the Training & Development department in a prestigious organisation. Natalia enjoys live music, holidays and chilling with her cat.
Ruth's former employment includes the No10 Policy Unit, Department for Education, Guardian News & Media and she now leads ThePublicOffice team. Ruth is passionate about public service transformation that prioritises the citizen experience and leads to improved outcomes
Katharine joined OnePlusOne as a trustee in 2015. She is a family lawyer at Withers LLP, an international private client law firm. She deals with cases across the whole spectrum of family work including divorce, financial claims, cohabitation and children matters.
Emma Ries, has been a Trustee at OnePlusOne since May 2009. Emma is an experienced specialist family lawyer, collaborative lawyer and mediator and has been working in this field since 1998.
Gavin joined OnePlusOne as a trustee in 2020. He is a partner at KPMG LLP in their Private Client tax team, and is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered tax advisor. Gavin supports individuals and families to understand their tax obligations and plan for the future.
Jonathan joined OnePlusOne as a trustee in 2020. He is an expert in crowdsourcing and management of global communities engaging users on different topics from innovation to mental health. He has designed or managed over 400 innovation programmes around the world.
Nell joined as a trustee in 2020. She is an expert in digital content and product leadership. She has worked for companies that range from tiny start-ups to the Guardian UK and US, where she was Managing Editor, Mumsnet and the BBC.
Simon joined OnePlusOne as a trustee in 2020. He specialises in leading the design and development of digital services that deliver social change.
Karen studied Economics before joining a large accountancy firm. For the last 25 years Karen has worked in financial planning with a specialism in divorce and separation. She was the first financial adviser to sit on a Resolution committee and was instrumental in launching the IFA accreditation scheme. She now runs her own financial planning practice.
Pravin is a chartered accountant. He started his career in banking before developing a passion for healthcare and wellbeing which led him to work for various hospitals over the last 10 years. He is currently acting deputy CFO at a London NHS Hospital.
Erica joined OnePlusOne as a trustee in 2024. She is a psychologist who specialises researching how people navigate close relationships and the wider social world. Her published work focuses on the role of emotions, personality, self and identity in relational contexts.
